Calling all club members Pre-season working party on Saturday 7th April from 0930..
Now the snow has cleared what better time to think of happier things and the forthcoming Cricket season. Even better is the opportunity to help your club by sparing some time at our pre-season working party.
Last season was remarkable for the number of volunteers that turned up , the number of new faces in that group, and the volume of work that was done. There’s a whole host of tasks that need to be done this year, both outside around our Cricket pitch, the nets , and inside the clubhouse. So this year we need as many of you to help as we can.
Please , don’t leave it to others to do.
Everyone is capable of doing something to help. Last year we struggled to provide the promised breakfast butties for everyone so is anyone offering to help with the catering this year. Please tell me.
It would be really good to know if you are able to come along and help, if there’s any skills in particular you can offer ( apart from cooking the breakfast rolls) and any tools or equipment you can bring along.
Key tasks this year:
Replace the netting for the cricket nets
Clean and refresh the sight screens
Clean and repair the covers
Remove weeds from the car park (and net area) spray weedkiller
Trim perimeter hedges where necessary and put debris in skip
Tidying at the rear of the pavilion (leaves, sweeping up the stones, etc)
Clearing away the guttering around the clubhouse
Replace ball netting around outfield
Repair style and connecting fencing (wood and tools required)
Sand and repaint outside handrails, stain, (brushes and sander needed)
Cooking the bacon
See you all on the 7th.
