OGCC Overseas Signing
This is the first time OGCC have signed an overseas player since 20?? And we are hoping this will add to the success the club has enjoyed both on and off the pitch in recent years. He will be arriving in the UK on 8th May in time for the first league game on 12th May. He will then be with us until early September.
Adam ‘Achie ’ Scher joins Odiham CC from Cape Town, South Africa and is due to arrive late April in preparation for the forthcoming season.
Adam is a 29 year old, experienced cricketer who comes with an Equivalent UKCC Level two coaching qualification. He was part of the western province under 19s squad and has had numerous stints abroad in Durham, Cornwall and Surrey. He was part of a league winning team last season for Old Hamptonions in the Surrey Championship.
Adams role will be to help the 1st XI in their quest to move up the divisions in the Hampshire League in means of playing and undertaking coaching roles at senior level.
He will also play a significant part in the colts section and will be on hand throughout the summer to help the junior coaches with their sessions on Monday and Friday nights as well as assisting with individual matches as time allows.
Outside of his contractual duties Achie will be running paid 121, group sessions and coaching camps in the summer holidays for both Juniors and Seniors alike. Achie will not have another job outside of OGCC when he is here and his ability to earn additional income is important. Achie has 12 years’ experience as a coach and will be undertaking additional coaching qualifications before he arrives. We hope that anyone with coaching requirements, both senior and junior players alike, will look to Achie to deliver this for them this summer. Full details of what he has to offer will be published when he arrives.
Adam will need accommodation throughout the summer, if any member would like to offer to house him for a fortnight, month or even the season then please let us know. He is due to arrive on 8th May and will be here until the beginning of September.
We are really happy with our choice of player, he is the one we targeted from a large pool available and we are really glad to have got him. We trust everyone will give him a warm welcome when he arrives, in return he shall provide us with a valuable asset to all of our club members through the course of the summer.
