2XI v Aldershot

With the skipper & vice skipper away sunning themselves the job was handed to Spreadie much to his surprise.

With the opposition captain calling wrong at the toss and the temperature at the King Street Oval hitting 32 degrees the skipper decided to bat ,if he hadn’t I think he would have been shot

The opening pair of James Hine & Netty started carefully as the skipper asked
Netty was first to go for a hard worked 5 , this brought Alfie to the crease how decided to attack the bowling which was the right choice

James did like wise dispatching the ball to all parts of the ground,Alfie went for 15 quickly followed by James Hine who chopped on for a fine 61
Next to come & go were Henry and James Birch both unlucky to get out to some erratic bowling 3&12 respectively

This meant the granddaddy of the club Mr David Hiscock limped to the square where he was joined by a very hyper Steve Nee-Davies
unfortunately he missed a straight one first ball up ooops,
With the team still 40 runs short of the 200 & the extra point ,Sanjay was given orders to make sure we got to 200
David went for a well played 15

This meant the skipper hobbled to the square with the comments from the 3 that were in the crowd ringing in his ears “ let’s have a sweep stake on how long he lasts “
Cheers chaps
Sanjay was alleged LBW for 28 with the team still 9 short of the 200

Hurstie joined the Skipper who told him not to do anything silly , well that didn’t work ( out for a 3 ball https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/f2e/2/16/1f986.png"); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-size: contain; color: transparent; display: inline-block; font-family: inherit; font-size: 16px; height: 16px; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; vertical-align: text-bottom; width: 16px;">🦆)

Sean came in and told the skipper he would make sure we got to the 200 which he did
The skipper was last out for knackering 12 with us making 204
Sean’s 0 not out was one of his most important knocks
Extras were Odiham’s second highest scorer with 44

Another wonderful tea was had by all

We opened with Sean from the top end & Mark up the hill which didn’t go to plan with the umpires not knowing the laws
Aldershot were going at nearly 8 an over
Some of the troops were grumbling at some of the skippers tactics but he had confidence in his bowlers and once the opener went for 42
Odiham took control bowling them out for just 97 of which 17 were extras
Sean 2 for27 off 8
Mark 1 for 2 off 8
Sanjay 4for 26 off 8
Steve 2for 10 off 5
Alfie 1 for 3 off 4.3

A big thank you to all of the team in helping set up and pack everything away afterwards, it was a pleasure to be your captain for the day.
