The Club’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Friday 25 October starting at 7.30 p.m. The official calling notice for the meeting will be sent out later, giving details of the Agenda. For now, and well in advance of the meeting, I wanted to bring to your attention the posts which are likely to be vacant and therefore will need filling. I should add, of course, that all posts on the Management Committee are re-elected each year and may be contested if members wish to do so – the posts below are being mentioned because they will be vacated by those currently holding them and members may wish to consider putting themselves forward.
After a number of years of sterling service, David Smith will be standing down as Treasurer. David has guided us successfully through to having a solid set of finances of which most clubs would be highly jealous. We will miss his sound judgment on the Management Committee.
The post of Club Welfare Officer is also vacant at present, with Duncan Mills having stepped down earlier this year. Duncan has done an exceptional job of running the All Stars over the last 2 years and will be relinquishing this role as well.
The posts of Secretary and Membership Secretary are also likely to be vacant, with Andy Stenning potentially taking on another role within the Club.
Finally, I have decided not to let my name go forward for another year as Chairman. It is unusual in the Club’s recent history for a Chairman to serve a short time but I have reached the conclusion that I cannot, with the demands of my job, give sufficient time to the role to be as effective as the Club needs its Chairman to be.
All cricket clubs survive on volunteers giving their time, and the above posts on the Management Committee are no different. If you think that you might be prepared to serve in any of the above roles, please let me know or talk to one of the other members of the Management Committee.
