Update on Winter Cricket

Update on Winter Cricket
17 Mar 2023

Winter Training is being well attended and we have had many teams competing in winter leagues. The winter grounds programme has gone well but more volunteers are welcome to help with rolling pitches and other tasks.

Looking ahead to the summer there will be two Midweek teams so there will be additional opportunities both to play and enjoy the bar on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. We eagerly await Natalie Guyot's return as our overseas player and she is eligible to play senior cricket on Saturdays.

Sean Merriman and the Youth Steering Group are hosting a Youth Forum at the Club on 20th March and encourage anyone interested in Junior Cricket to attend and ask the group about any areas of concern.

Nearly all of our 200+ Junior fixtures for the summer have been organised with huge thanks to Pip Reader and anyone who has helped. We are continuing to increase our capacity and take more juniors off the waiting list.

It is nice to call out our U11 Girls team's winter success. They have played 8 and won 8. This includes two thrillers against Hursley Park. Our U11 team includes 3 county players, Hattie McBride, Olivia Harrison and Sophie Williams. With 25 + girls training every weekend, and a raft of coaches, the summer season looks bright. And that's not just due to global warming!

Finally, the Women's section were lucky to have Southern Viper, Charlotte Taylor, delivering a batting masterclass on Tuesday. A session enjoyed by all.
